Madeline Albrittain, World Languages Department Chairperson, announced that Manuela Roncancio-Roldan '25 and Aashrita Banerjee '26 have received the Global Seal of Biliteracy - Working Fluency for Spanish.
The Global Seal of Biliteracy offers free certification in over 100 languages, enabling individuals to demonstrate their language proficiency worldwide. A Global Seal language certification empowers recipients to showcase their language skills to educational institutions and employers across borders.
Mrs. Albrittain said, “Students who earn the Global Seal of Biliteracy have demonstrated superior linguistic skills, as reflected in their SAT/ACT scores and AP Spanish Language and Culture exam score. Aashrita and Manuela have developed such a high level of fluency from their years of dedication to both languages, in and outside of the classroom. They should be very proud of their accomplishment, and I am excited to see what future opportunities arise with this valuable skillset."
“Through hard work and consistency, I have accomplished this Global Seal of Biliteracy which to me means that I am able to proficiently communicate with my friends in English and with my family in Colombia,” stated Manuela. “It gives me pride to say that I am bilingual!”
Aashrita added, “Receiving this award reflects not only my hard work but also the incredible support I’ve received from the Mount community. Through the study of Spanish, I’ve gained an invaluable skill and even more importantly, a deeper appreciation for diverse cultures. I couldn’t have done it without my amazing teacher, Mrs. Madeline Albrittain, or any of the friends I made along the way in my Spanish classes.”
