Thanksgiving Prayer Service 2024

Michelle H. Daino
Before departing for Thanksgiving break, our Peer Ministers led a beautiful prayer service in the Chapel of the Immaculate Conception.

Sarah Algier '26 announced, "Today, we will be participating in a prayer service with the theme of Gratitude for the Gift of Creation. May this morning's prayer service be a time of reflection on the many gifts God has given to us in our lives and an opportunity to meditate upon our call to be stewards of His creation."

While reading from specific parts of scripture and offering reflection, the Peer Ministers focused on the following symbols: light and darkness, water and sky, earth and vegetation, moon and sun, birds and sea creatures, as well as land animals and humans. After a few moments of silence, a special procession began during which members of the Mount community added colorful squares to create a mosaic heart to "remind us of the great love God has for us, which is evident by the abundant gifts He has given us in creation." Peer Ministers assisted in the construction of the heart while the song, "For the Beauty of the Earth" was sung by the congregation.

On behalf of the Mount Peer Ministry program, we pray that everyone has a wonderful holiday with their families.
