A special Mount tradition and celebration of sisterhood occurred this morning in the Chapel of the Immaculate Conception as juniors received their class rings during a special Mass led by Monsignor William Benwell. The class theme was "Banded in Mercy" and the students selected "You've Got a Friend in Me" as their class song. Following the Mass, the juniors attended a luncheon at Shackamaxon Country Club after taking a keepsake photo with their banner on the steps of the Chapel.
In her remarks, Sister Lisa D. Gambacorto, RSM, Ed.S., Directress, said, "For me, it is a great privilege to see the rings you have chosen. Your ring is the Circle of Mercy. It is timeless. It represents the never-ending possibilities of the future that is yours - which includes being a woman of Mercy, not only in your words, but in your deeds."
Sister Lisa added, "Your ring will remind you of your achievements, your struggles, your laughter, and your friends. When you wear your ring, it will remind you of the Mount, and you will come to recognize that there really will never be another school like the Mount."
