Following our Mercy Day Liturgy, Shelby Carmant ’25 (Student Council Executive Board President) offered a special presentation to recognize the 25 years of leadership and commitment of Sister Lisa Gambacorto, RSM, Ed.S., Directress as well as Sister’s 45 years as a Sister of Mercy.

Before presenting Sister Lisa with a beautiful bouquet of balloons in school colors, Shelby said, “While Sister Lisa’s accomplishments are too numerous to count, I would like to highlight some of the major projects she has initiated and guided to completion during this time. Even a handful of these projects would have been a massive undertaking for one Head of School, so this list is truly impressive.”

Over the past 25 years, Sister Lisa has …
  • Renovated the science labs and all of the ground floor classrooms of Gabriel Hall
  • Created the Student Center
  • Renovated the Gym
  • Created the Snack Shack and the School Store
  • Built the Angels of Victory track and field
  • Renovated the Band and Choral rooms
  • Instituted the one-to-one computer program
  • Created the Bloomberg Lab
  • Developed the Campus Ministry program
  • Added the following Athletic teams: Cross country, winter and spring track, lacrosse, and volleyball
  • Added electronic signs to our school’s entrance and the softball field
  • Enhanced our safety and security with state of the art tools, such as our access card system and cameras
  • Replaced all of the classroom projectors on campus with mounted wireless projectors
  • AND renovated Mercy Hall to create the SLG Theater, which was named in her honor
  • She even received a special award from the Pope for her outstanding leadership and distinguished service
“On a special note, during the pandemic, Sister Lisa guided the Mount through an unprecedented remote learning experience, helping our community navigate through a challenging time with her grace and strength,” added Shelby.
“On a daily basis, Sister Lisa’s sense of humor and support of special events, like our powderpuff games, Easter Egg hunts, and Halloween parades, brings “fun” and excitement to our high school experience. She even shares her Therapy Dogs – Tommy and Toby – with us to lift our spirits,” she said.

“Sister Lisa: we appreciate your tireless efforts to provide us with an incomparable educational experience here at the Mount. We love you, and we congratulate you on your 25 years as Directress and 45 years as a Sister of Mercy. Happy Mercy Day from our entire school community!”
