Merit Scholarships and Financial Aid

Mount Saint Mary Academy awards merit scholarships and financial aid to approximately 40% of qualified students and families. Available funds are reserved by the Board of Trustees through its budgetary process and contributed through donations from our generous donors. An application for financial aid does not impact the admission decision. New students eligible for a merit scholarship or a financial aid award will be notified of their award with the admission decision.

Merit Scholarships

Candidates for admission to grade 9 will have the opportunity to receive an invitation to become Mercy Distinguished Scholars. Initial selection includes those who have achieved outstanding Entrance Test scores. Further review of past standardized testing history, the transcript of grades from middle school grades (6,7, and 8) and supporting credentials  will then be evaluated by a committee comprised of Administration, Faculty and School Counselors. MERIT SCHOLARSHIPS will be awarded, and the qualifying students will be enrolled in an enhanced freshmen curriculum.

Financial Aid

Mount Saint Mary Academy appreciates the financial commitment of our families to provide a Mercy education for their daughters. Families are expected to contribute to the cost of their daughters’ tuition as much as their income and other resources will allow. All parents are expected to be employed with the exception of the care of young children or elderly parent(s) in their home. Families with children in other tuition-based schools are expected to apply for aid at these schools as well. Available funds are awarded to qualified families most in need.

New and returning families’ Financial Aid Applications are due each year by November 30th. Financial aid applications submitted after the deadline will be accepted, however there is no guarantee that funds will remain available. Both parents are required to submit their most recent pay stubs, W-2 forms for all employment, filed Federal Income Tax Return(s) and any required supplemental income documentation. New students will be considered for financial aid upon completion of the Application for Admission. Qualified families will be notified of their financial aid award with the admission decision. New and returning families may access the financial aid instructions through the Parent Resources Board on myMSMA.
